Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame Award, open to any active, retired, or deceased peace officer in the US or Canada.

“We’re looking for potential honorees whose actions and accomplishments show that they’ve gone beyond the call of duty to make a difference through their career,” says Megan Stockburger, co-chair of the commemoration.

The daughter of a retired officer from Toledo (OH) PD, she launched the annual recognition three years ago, determined to “highlight positive stories about the police that the public often doesn’t hear about in the current climate.”

Awards are made in a variety of categories, including training, distinguished service, school resource performance, courage in service, career achievement, lifetime achievement, and “Never Forgotten,” the recognition of an outstanding officer killed in the line of duty.

In 2018 the lifetime achievement award went to Force Science Analyst Chuck Humes, for his exceptional contributions to law enforcement training.

To initiate the nomination process, you can fill out a form online through the LEO Hall of Fame website. Along with other information, the application asks for a 250-word summary of the merits of your nominee.

After an initial screening, a Hall of Fame staffer will follow up for more extensive documentation. The final selections are made by a judging committee consisting of past winners and retired law enforcement personnel.

Awards will be conferred at a celebration banquet September 12, 2019 in Toledo. The deadline for nominations is June 3, 2019.

If you have questions, please contact Megan Stockburger.

She’d also like to hear from pro-law enforcement businesses, organizations, and individuals interested in supporting this event as sponsors.
